Executive Team

CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER – Paul Arundell

Paul Arundell joined NT Christian Schools in 2017 as Director of Education and has 34 years’ experience in Christian Education, most notably as the Principal at Strathalbyn Christian College in Geraldton WA (2011-16), and Mountains Christian College (2005-2010) in the Blue Mountains West of Sydney.
A variety of experiences in Christian Education have helped to equip him for the role of CEO, including being a parent, a teacher, a Board Chair, a principal, the State Executive Officer and State Council chair for WA and finally the NT Christian Schools Director of Education. Paul is married to Helen and they have three adult children who all attended Christian Schools. Paul and Helen attend Darwin Baptist Church and love exploring this wonderful country in which we live.

DIRECTOR OF EDUCATION – Debra Twartz

Debra Twartz is a primary trained teacher who taught at various schools in the NT for 13 years. She has extensive experience in Christian Education, including as a Principal at Sattler Christian College (formerly Litchfield Christian School) and as CEO of NT Christian Schools from 2015 – 2017. Debra served as a Director of NT Christian Schools for 5 years and commenced an administrative role with NT Christian Schools in 2008. Debra was also formerly the Deputy Chief Executive, with oversight of corporate services and provided strategic support for school operations.

In 2018, Debra stepped into the Director of Education role. Debra is married to Simon and they have two children currently attending Marrara Christian College. Debra and her family fellowship at St Andrew Lutheran Church, where she is involved in worship leading.

CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER –Mark Elkington

Mark serves as the Finance and Resource Manager and attends Board meetings as part of his role. Mark is able to translate complex finance and development issues into ‘lay’ language enabling board members with responsibility for numerous schools across a wide spread of locations, to make informed decisions. Mark manages both capital and recurrent budgets for some of the most remote non-government schools in Australia. His careful management ensures these schools are well-equipped and thrive. Mark manages a raft of complex government funded and privately funded programmes. Mark is married to Roz and fellowships at Darwin Baptist Church.

OPERATIONS MANAGER – Phoebe Van Bentum

Phoebe van Bentum has worked at NT Christian Schools since 2010. In 2018 she began her role as Operations Manager for the organisation. Phoebe worked as a solicitor in NSW before moving to the NT and began working with NT Christian Schools and has extensive experience in supporting the Charity and Not-for-Profit sector, particularly in the area of education. She has tertiary qualifications in Social Science, Law and International & Community Development, and a passion for building communities that are Christ centred and people focused. Phoebe is married to Joel and they have three children who all attend Marrara Christian College. Phoebe and her family worship and are involved in ministry at Darwin Baptist Church.
